Included in the curated group exhibition, 'Rites of Passage', at the Gympie Regional Gallery, 13 March-20 April 2019, this series of images is part of an ongoing genealogical investigation of national origin myths through individual stories. While national mythologies are conveyed as coherent stories of cultural formation, family storytelling is often chaotic and contradictory, revealing deeper and unsettling truths about both individual experiences and their cultural contexts. The selection of images and text are drawn from the artist’s own family archive and each represents a story that assumed significance at key turning points in the artist’s life
