Objective: to describe the frequency of microorganisms and the antibiotic resistance of isolated bacteria in blood cultures of patients with bacteremia, in a university hospital in Colombia. Methods: An observational, descriptive, and cross-sectional study was developed in individuals older than 18 years, where the positive blood cultures were described, isolated in all the services of the University Hospital of the Caribbean. Results: Of the 211 blood cultures analyzed, 53.1% were men. The Gram-positive microorganisms correspond to 49.8%, with a high frequency of S. aureus in 16.1%. Of the Gram negative microorganisms, E.coli was isolated by 18%. Vancomycin resistance was established at 4.4%. K. pneumoniae showed resistance to meropenem in...
