Miniaturization is a key technological approach in current times. The most prominent examples of miniaturization are personal computers and mobile phones, but we observe miniaturization in other aspects of life, with the most recent example being small portable corona test kits. In science a big part of miniaturization focuses on detectors: to make them portable, to make them integrable into bigger, multi-function systems or to enable detection of smaller and smaller samples.
