Analisis de la competitividad comercial del sector manufacturero colombiano mediante técnicas de análisis multivariante

This work aims to analyze the commercial competitiveness of the manufacturing sector in Colombia through the export openness coefficient to understand the variables that define its current position through multivariate techniques such as cluster analysis. For the above, the literature related to trade competitiveness, the export openness coefficient and the cluster analysis technique were reviewed. Based on the above, the statistical data provided by the National Planning Department in the periods 2013 to 2018 were analyzed, associated with 10 representative subsectors of the manufacturing sector. Next, the cluster analysis technique was applied using the Minitab 16 statistical software to identify groups and characteristic profiles of commercial competitiveness. 3 groups or characteristic profiles were identified where clusters 1 and 2 increased low levels of competitiveness and cluster 3, levels of it. Likewise, the results show the capacity and relevance of the cluster analysis technique to determine profiles and levels of commercial competitiveness, thus providing the literature with an important benchmark for competitive evaluation, which can be replicated in different productive sectorsEste trabajo tiene como objetivo analizar la competitividad comercial del sector manufacturero en Colombia mediante el coeficiente de Apertura Exportadora para entender las variables que definen su posición actual a través de técnicas multivariantes como es el análisis clúster. Para lo anterior, se revisó la literatura relacionada con la competitividad comercial, el coeficiente de apertura exportadora y la técnica de análisis de conglomerados. A partir de lo anterior se analizaron los datos estadísticos suministrados por el Departamento Nacional de Planeación en los periodos 2013 al 2018, asociados a 10 subsectores representativos del sector manufacturero. Seguidamente se aplicó la técnica de análisis de conglomerados mediante el software estadístico Minitab 16 para identificar grupos y perfiles característicos de competitividad comercial. Se identificaron 3 grupos o perfiles característicos en donde los conglomerados 1 y 2 presentaron niveles bajos de competitividad y el clúster 3, niveles altos de la misma. Así mismo, los resultados muestran la capacidad y pertinencia de la técnica de análisis de conglomerados para determinar perfiles y niveles de competitividad comercial con lo que se aporta a la literatura un importante referente de evaluación competitiva, el cual puede ser replicado en distintos sectores productivos
