This thesis is focused on the strength, plasticity and transport properties of mudrocks. Two industrial applications are the shale gas production and the underground gas or waste storage. In a first part, the permeability is described as resulting from the homogenisation of the flow of a Newtonian fluid within the pore space. A Hashin-Shtrikman like framework is derived for the permeability upscaling and used to propose a FFT-based numerical method for the efficient computation of bounds on the permeability, directly compatible with a voxelised representation of the pore space.
