Introduction: The pathogenesis of essential hypertension remains elusive. It is argued that that it could be a systemic, low-grade inflammatory disease, or renal angiotensin aldosterone system dysregulation leading to sodium retention. Most studies were conducted among the general population but data among young adults are lacking.
