The Public Health Programme (2021-2027) » (EU4Health) which should support the realisation of a European Health Union, provides for the possibility of funding actions that advance the digital transformation of health services and increase their interoperability, including the development of a European Health Data Space. A European e-health area is gradually being built up to support the digital transformation of health services with a view to facilitating access to safe, high-quality cross-border health care. The next step, as announced by the Commission, will be the creation of a European Health Data Area that can have an impact both in the field of healthcare and in medical research to facilitate the development of treatments and diagnostics. This contribution shows the progress that has been and is being made in this area of digital health
