Medical lighting, illumination influence for patients and some types of surgical lighting systems are presented in this work. It is discussed why LED (light emitting diode) illumination is very acceptable in the surgical rooms and hospitals. Performed modeling in MATLAB with human’s tissues reflectance, D65 reference light source and real optimized LED spectra, which were compared with the already available theoretical results. Results showed that real optimized LED spectrum increases color discrimination about 40% in many cases and there is no universal spectrum for increasing color discrimination – dynamical lighting is required which could be combined to the specific situation
