Activité féminine et formation continue

During the past twenty years the quality of training has improved and is relatively diversified in firms and enterprises according to the country under consideration : nevertheless it seems to depend on the vagaries of economic conditions. Women are generally underrepresented in the training schemes but their participation rate is increasing faster than that of men : so we can imagine that they will eventually catch up. Even if the biggest firms have the largest training programs, it appears clearly (and paradoxally) that the smallest ones favour the feminine population. The analysis by sector, in the French case, allows one to verify the following hypothesis : the femi¬ nine representation index is linked with the percentage of salaried women. Finally, a personnel analysis (by socio-professional categories and age) shows the possibility of a «virtuous circle » («training engenders more training ») ; or, on the other hand, in the lower profes¬ sionally qualified groups, stagnation for individuals feebly motivated to participate in training schemes.Depuis plus de vingt ans, la formation continue a nettement progressé dans les entreprises : cette tendance, relativement diversifiée suivant les pays, parait cependant tributaire des irrégularités de la conjoncture. Les femmes y sont généralement sous-représentées mais leur taux de participation aux actions de formation augmente plus rapidement que celui des hommes, ce qui laisse présager un rattrapage. Même si les grandes entreprises font le plus grand effort de formation, il apparaît clairement (et paradoxalement) que la population féminine est favorisée sur ce point dans les petites entreprises. L'analyse sectorielle conduite sur le cas français permet de vérifier l'hypothèse du lien entre indice de représentation féminine et pourcentage de femmes salariées. Une analyse personnelle (par catégories socio-professionnelles et âge) met enfin en évidence la possibilité d'un cercle vertueux («la formation attire la formation ») ou au contraire traduit la stagnation des individus de basse qualification, faiblement incités à enrichir leur formation.Barthélémy Philippe, Granier Roland, Lapied André.
