Enlargement of the secondary road, RD 938, between Parthenay and Thouars (Deux-Sèvres) made the salvage excavation of a Gallo-Roman potter’s shop possible. Located on a plateau, this workshop is delimited by a vast surrounding ditch. Four kilns and ten clay-winning pits have been brought to light. The ceramic materials (firing waste), found in the backfill of these structures, are the reflection of this activity. The main part of the production corresponds to a simple-shaped functional ceramic, characterised by a coarse paste.
