Islands are special areas. Several factors like size, geographical location, distance from the mainland or natural supply contribute to the specificity of each island. Moreover, an insular colonization implies the domination of the maritime gap, which means using very specific technics and mastering a complex environment. In the past few years, new archaeological discoveries improved our knowledge of the insular Mediterranean settlements ; by the way, new questions arose.
