The European Neolithic is partly characterized by a widespread issue of goods, amongst them axes blades in polished rocks. Here is presented the particular case of the Western Alps and the Rhone basin with the help of a study made on this subject (thesis). The cross study on production and distribution of the axes blades in the Western Alps and the Rhone basin demonstrates that : – eclogites and similar rocks (jadeitites, omphacitites) from Liguria and Piedmont are used all along the Neolithic period for the most important productions.
