Numerous studies have been carried out over the past few years on the treatment of hip dysplasia in dogs. All current treatments are designed to relieve joint pain. Triple pelvic osteotomy and pubic symphysiodesis performed in growing animals are the only surgical treatments able to prevent osteoarthritis, by reducing articular instability at an early stage. Along with total hip replacement, indicated in adult dogs over 20 Kg, these surgical techniques provide the best and most long-lasting functional recovery.
