Le mot dans l’art d’opposition sous le franquisme : l’urgence et la liberté

This article seeks to analyze the different uses of writing in the work of Spanish artists associated with the opposition during Franco’s regime. It attempts to understand the reason why this practice can be identified in the production of painters attached to vastly different artistic mo- vements, such as informal art or narrative figuration. The goal is to study this facet of Spanish art in the 1960s and 1970s within its political context, while also bringing the work face to face with the larger artistic tradition of writing in art. The use of the writing in the pictorial field, which can be used for the picturing capacity of words, seems to have had a particularly strong meaning in the case of the opposition to Franco, in that it met certain needs as urgent as freedom.L'article analyse différents usages de l’écrit dans l’œuvre d’artistes espagnols associés à l’opposition contre la dictature franquiste. Il s’agit de comprendre pourquoi cette pratique se retrouve dans la production d’artistes rattachés à des courants aussi divers que l’art informel ou la figuration narrative. L’enjeu est d’interroger cet aspect de l’art espagnol des années 1960 et 1970 à la lumière du contexte politique, tout en le confrontant à la longue tradition artistique de l’écrit dans l’art. L’emploi de l’écriture dans le champ pictural, s’il peut par exemple être mis en place pour la capacité imageante des mots, semble prendre un sens particulièrement fort dans le cadre de l’opposition au franquisme et répondre à des nécessités aussi impérieuses que celle de la liberté.Bottois Ozvan.
