This work deals with the feasibility of the soil moisture estimation over different kind of agricultural fields from polarimetric SAR data acquired in L band by the airborne radar of Germany Aerospatiale center E-SAR. Different electromagnetic models are studied in order to stimulate the basckscattering behavior from bare and vegetable soils and to determine the soil moisture influence on radar response. Furthermore, the plowed agricultural fields are modelled by using periodic structure within the surface geometry in order to understand their particular electromagnetic behavior.
