Substantial technological advancements in next generation sequencing (NGS) have revolutionized the genomic field. Over the last years, the speed and throughput of NGS technologies have increased while their costs have decreased, allowing us to achieve base-by-base interrogation of the human genome in an efficient and affordable way. All these advances have led to a growing application of NGS technologies in clinical practice to identify the genomics variations and their relationship with certain diseases.
