Abstract

Objective: A series of substituted 2-hydrazono-2(3H)-thiazole derivatives were synthesized from 4-(3-chlorophenyl)-3-thiosemicarbazide and evaluated in vitro for antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli, Candida albicans, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus subtilis and Staphyllococcus aureus.Methods: 4-(3-Chlorophenyl)-3-thiosemicarbazones were synthesized and allowed to react with 2,4′-dibromoacetophenone to give 2-hydrazono-2(3H)-thiazoles in excellent yields. The synthesized compounds were characterized by spectroscopic methods as well as elemental analyses.
