Le dessalement de l'eau de mer par osmose inverse (OI) est l'une des solutions pour répondre à la demande mondiale croissante d'eau douce. Cependant, il subsiste au moins deux défis majeurs : (i) la limitation du colmatage des membranes et (ii) la maîtrise de la rétention des micropolluants organiques présents dans les eaux à traiter pour assurer la potabilité de l’eau traitée. Le colmatage des membranes d’OI peut être limité en pré-traitant l’eau à filtrer (traitements physicochimiques, microfiltration) et en augmentant l’hydrophilie des matériaux membranaires.
