MOTIVASI SISWA SMP NEGERI 22 SURABAYA DALAM MENGIKUTI KEGIATAN EKSTRAKURIKULER BOLABASKET

ARIF KUSTORO kustoroarif@yahoo.com   ABSTRACT Basketball is very popular in Indonesia, it is not only interesting for adults but also children especially adolescent. Certainly, it needs awareness and motivation that everybody has opportunity and motivation in physical exercise. That is why this research takes motivation research in basketball extracurricular as the theme of the study to find out what motivation are arising in joining the basketball extracurricular. Descriptive qualitative method is used in this research by using semi-open questionnaire intervie as the instrument. The subjects of this research are all of the students at SMP Negeri 22 Surabaya who are enrolled and involved actively in joining the basketball extracurricular. The results of the research, based on the questionnaire spread, shows that students motivations in joining basketball extracurricular is 19% to become taller, 18% want to get achievement in sport, 17% hobby or pleasure, 12% the play is please and enjoyable, 10% want to play abroad, 8% desire to be able to play basketball, 6% want to show the ability by basketball to the parents, 6% want to get challenge, 4% to train discipline.
