The prevalence of pyoderma was studied in dogs brought to University Veterinary Hospitals, Mannuthy and Kokkalai. The studies on prevalence of pyoderma in different age groups, sex and breed revealed that young to middle aged dogs, females and German Shepherd dogs respectively were more prone to bacterial dermatitis. Classificationwas made based on depth of infection as evident from lesions and clinical symptoms as surface, superficial and deep pyoderm
