Small regulatory RNAs (sRNAs) that act by base-pairing are the most abundant posttranscriptional regulators in all three kingdoms of life. Over the past 20 years, a variety of approaches have been employed to discover chromosome-encoded sRNAs in a multitude of bacterial species.
