Conducting: a Direction Matter - The Communication in Choirs and Vocal Groups

Este trabalho tem como objetivo geral investigar, analisar e comparar os diferentes processos de direção musical em Corais e Grupos Vocais, a partir do estudo do fenômeno da comunicação que ocorre entre seus membros e da observação dos trabalhos de seus respectivos líderes. O objetivo específico é identificar diferenças e semelhanças nos procedimentos utilizados para que a melhor performance possível seja alcançada, além de refletir sobre questões envolvidas nas práticas interpretativas. Os referenciais teóricos para a pesquisa foram levantados em diferentes áreas, tais como Comunicação, Neurociência, Psicologia, Educação Física, Musicologia, Musicoterapia, Performance Musical e Regência, sendo ilustrada com vídeos, colecionando uma amostra de imagens que exemplifica alguns procedimentos de comunicações que geram soluções para eventuais problemas musicais na performance. O primeiro capítulo trata de discutir o fenômeno da Comunicação Humana (verbal e não-verbal) e o processo de empatia entre duas ou mais pessoas. Já no segundo, a Comunicação aproxima-se da Música e da performance musical em si, através do estudo da relação entre gestos físico e musical e dos trabalhos de regentes nos corais e de diretores musicais/cantores em ensembles vocais, focando nos diferentes tipos de direção musical sob o prisma da comunicação e da liderança. O terceiro capítulo é composto de exemplos em vídeos comentados e devidamente analisados, exemplificando casos específicos. O trabalho se encerra com considerações a respeito da experiência comunicacional em grupos musicais, além de refletir sobre a sua importância no desenvolvimento e na ampliação da consciência musical, tanto no âmbito individual quanto no coletivo.The general objective of this work is to investigate, analyse and compare the different processes of musical direction in choirs and vocal groups, based on the study of the communication phenomenon that occurs among their members and on observing their respective leaders\' work. The specific objective is to identify differences and similarities among the procedures used looking for achieving the best as possible performance, besides reflecting on issues involved in the interpretative practices. The theoretical references for the research were surveyed in different areas, such as Communication, Neuroscience, Psychology, Physical Education, Musicology, Music Therapy, Music Performance, and Conducting. These references are illustrated with videos, collecting a sample of images that brings examples of some communication procedures that generate solutions for eventual musical troubles in the performance. The first chapter discusses the phenomenon of human communication (verbal and non-verbal) and the process of empathy between two or more people. In the second chapter, communication approaches music and musical performance itself, through the study of the relationship between physical and musical gestures, the study of the work of conductors in choirs, and of musical directors-singers in vocal ensembles, focusing on the different types of musical direction from the perspective of communication and leadership. The third chapter is composed of commented and analysed specific video examples. The work ends with considerations about the communicational experience in musical groups and reflects about its importance in the development and expansion of musical consciousness, both individually and collectively
