Modéliser la variabilité biologique en réponse aux pratiques de conduite. Application au troupeau caprin laitier

Diplôme : Dr. d'UniversitéThe variability of individual responses is a key element of herd functioning, the role of which remains to be quantified. The objective of this thesis is to study how individual variability is built from the interaction between the biological responses of the females and management practices, and how this variability produces herd performance. With this objective, an individual-based model of dairy goat herd was developed. The model is based on the interaction between a decisional system, based on the technical operations of feeding, reproduction and replacement management and a biological system, based on a set of individuals each consisting of an individual dairy goat model, simulating body weight and milk production in response to feeding and reproductive management. Three experimental plans were run to test the effects of the energy level of the diet, the number of steps within the feeding plan and the mean herd production potential. The results showed that individual variability within a management option was characterized by variables related to lifetime length and productivity. Individual variability between management options was characterized by variables related to feed efficiency. Different combinations of management options can lead to the same level of efficiency. However, theses options did not rely on the same biological basis: they led to different proportions of individuals at biological equilibrium compared to their production potential. These differences could lead to different herd adaptive abilities in a fluctuating environment. The model can be used to investigate the role of individual variability on the resilience of herd system.La variabilité des réponses individuelles est un processus central dans le fonctionnement du troupeau. L'objectif de cette thèse est d'étudier comment la variabilité se construit à partir des interactions entre réponses biologiques et pratiques de conduite et comment les performances du troupeau se construisent à partir de cette variabilité. Ainsi, un modèle individu-centré de fonctionnement du troupeau caprin laitier a été développé. Le modèle comprend un système décisionnel, qui représente les opérations techniques d'alimentation, de reproduction et de renouvellement et un système biotechnique, qui repose sur la démultiplication d'un modèle de chèvre simulant le poids vif et la production laitière en réponse aux pratiques d'alimentation et de reproduction. Trois plans d'expériences ont testé les effets du niveau des apports alimentaires, de la segmentation du plan d'alimentation et du niveau du potentiel de production du troupeau. La variabilité intra-conduite est caractérisée par des variables de durée et de productivité de la carrière. La variabilité inter-conduites est caractérisée par les variables liées à l'efficacité alimentaire. Des efficacités similaires peuvent être obtenues avec différentes combinaisons d'options de conduite. Celles ci ne sollicitent cependant pas les mêmes bases biologiques et génèrent des proportions contrastées d'individus à l'équilibre par rapport à leur potentiel de production. Ces différences dans l'élaboration des performances pourraient conduire à des capacités d'adaptation du troupeau variables dans un environnement fluctuant. Le simulateur permettrait alors d'explorer le rôle de la variabilité dans la résilience du troupeau
