The purpose of this literature review is to identify the existing interventional methods currently employed by mental health professionals in a multitude of settings, from private mental health practices to Veterans Affairs (VA) clinics and other facilities. Numerous studies exist in the interventional methods used to treat Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), including veterans from many of this nation’s conflicts, ranging from the Korean Conflict, the Vietnam War, and the War on Terror in both Iraq and Afghanistan. The VA cites numerous interventional methodologies for treating PTSD in American military veterans, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and exposure therapy (ET) to name a few.
