The work carried out in this thesis concerns the consequences of the increase of the part of electrical energy embbed in aeronautical networks and of the resulting voltage increases (change to 230V AC and +/- 270V DC or 0-540V DC). Under these conditions, aircraft manufacturers will be faced with technical difficulties concerning the switching of high currents in DC under high voltages and the risk of arcing faults within the networks. The work presented here concerns the characterization of electric arcs supplied under 540 VDC under aeronautical pressure conditions from 100 hPa to 1000 hPa.
