As is admitted in the literature, the flow around a rectangular bluff body can induce, under certain conditions, a bistable behavior (wake symmetry breaking). This bistability appears from a critical Reynolds number and strongly depends on the ground clearance height (subbase flow rate). The body considered in this thesis is a simplified car model called squareback Ahmed body with a width/height aspect ratio of 1.35. Measurements of velocity fields in the horizontal and vertical planes as well as pressure and forces (drift and drag) were made to characterize and subsequently control the asymmetry of the wake.
