Urbanization is a worldwide process irreversibly converting natural habitats into artificialized areas. Cities represent a new, human-made environment with novel environmental conditions that might directly impact urban-dwelling species and their evolutionary trajectories. Although they are of major importance for species past, present and future history, evolutionary processes ongoing in urban habitats remain poorly known. Hence, the main objective of the present work is to study city life impacts on wild species and to investigate if and how species adapt to the urban environment.
