Shot-peening induced residual stresses at the grain scale influence material's high cycle fatigue life. However their estimation requires an accurate identification of crystal plasticity models at the surface scale under the process conditions, as well relevent experimental procedure for model validation. The goal of this thesis is to develop a methodology for intragranular residual stress and hardening prediction using crystal plasticity finite element simulations and experimental validation. Spherical indentation tests on single crystal copper specimens reveal that crystal plasticity anisotropy could induce tensile stresses under the surface.
