This thesis is part of the CERTYF research project, acronym of Combined Effects of Radiation Temperature and hYdrogen in optical Fibers. The CERTYF project aims to improve knowledge on the degradation processes of silica-based material and optical fibers used in severe or harsh environments combining irradiation constraints, hydrogen and temperature (R-H-T), such as the one encountered by ANDRA (Agence nationale pour la gestion des déchets radioactifs). When exposed to radiation, the optical fiber becomes less guiding due to the creation of defects. These defects are characterized by energy levels within the bandgap of the material.
