Vaccination is one of the most powerful preventive strategy for controlling many infections caused by pathogens. The main route of entry for pathogens are mucosal surfaces. Most vaccines are predominantly inoculated parenterally and are generally capable of inducing protective immune responses, but not always. It is important to have new alternative strategies such as mucosal vaccines.
