Neurons are electrically excitable nerve cells, communicating with each other at specific points of contacts called synapses. In order to understand how the brain processes information from the outside world and from internal models (memories), it is important to understand how neurons are connected with each other, through which type of synapses, and how the electrical signals are processed at the single-cell level.
