Within nuclear facilities, several fires with the implication of cable trays has been reported. The fire behavior of those cable trays is unknown while inside the nuclear structures there are thousands of kilometers of electric cable trays. The main aim is to develop an experimental model based on analytic relations that can characterize the ignition and fire spreading along an electric cable tray. The first part of this thesis has been devoted to study the analytic relations at a small scale for electric cables. Experiments on a calorimeter cone were performed with the aim to determine the ignition time, then on a simple cable device for the fire spreading.
