Albert B. Moore

Albert B. Moore was born in Bangor, Maine in January 1941 to Baxter Bradford and Winifred Berkeley (Haynes) Moore. He graduated from Silver Lake Regional High School in Kingston, MA in 1959. Moore graduated in 1963 from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. He then completed two years of post-graduate work at UMass, Lowell, in Pulp and Paper Engineering. Moore worked as a Process Engineer, Laboratory Management at Georgia-Pacific in Plattsburgh, N.Y. where he worked extensively on the start of a chemi-mechanical pulp mill. Later in his career, he joined the Nekoosa Edwards Paper Company in Port Edwards, Wisconsin, as a Quality Control Engineer during which time he became responsible for product and process improvements to meet quality demands for paper manufactured for the Xerox Corporation. In 1971, Moore began working for Buckman Laboratories, assigned to Ohio, then Western Pennsylvania as a Sales Representative for papermaking chemistry supplies. He advanced to Regional Sales Manager for the northeastern section of the U.S. In 1992, he became Buckman’s Corporate Accounts Manager in the pulp and paper industry. Upon his retirement in 2010, he was serving as Assistant to the President of Buckman Laboratories, Inc. In this role, he was responsible for the management of all Buckman sales and marketing events. Moore was a charter membership on the PIMA (Paper Industry Management Association) Purchasing and Affiliates Committee, membership on the PIMA Annual Meeting Planning Committee, and for many years, he was the Publicity Chairman for the Northeast Division of PIMA. He also served as a member of the PIMA Division Service Committee. Moore became a TAPPI member in 1964, and was active in numerous local sections – New England, Virginia Empire State, Maine, New Hampshire and Metropolitan. He was named a TAPPI fellow in 2005. In addition to PIMA and TAPPI, Moore supported numerous organizations and programs supporting education related to the pulp and paper industry, including serving as Chair of the Open House Committee of the University of Maine Pulp and Paper Foundation.
