Albert B. Moore was born in Bangor, Maine in January 1941 to Baxter Bradford and Winifred Berkeley (Haynes) Moore. He graduated from Silver Lake Regional High School in Kingston, MA in 1959. Moore graduated in 1963 from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. He then completed two years of post-graduate work at UMass, Lowell, in Pulp and Paper Engineering. Moore worked as a Process Engineer, Laboratory Management at Georgia-Pacific in Plattsburgh, N.Y. where he worked extensively on the start of a chemi-mechanical pulp mill.
