This last decade has known an explosion of the wireless access connectivity, mostly dominated by Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN), 3GPP-based cellular networks (3G and 4G), and to a lesser extent by Digital Video Broadcast (DVB) networks. Combined with the emergence of smartphones and tablet PCs, wireless connectivity has changed the users' way to connect to the Internet, where we clearly observe that most of the connection to video platforms (e.g., Youtube, video on demand and IPTV) and social network applications are originated from wireless as well as mobile networks.
