Ispitana je koncentracija fenola u urinu u grupi radnika (N = 316) izloženih benzenu u gumarskoj industriji »Vulkan«. Istovremeno je određivan benzen u radnoj atmosferi. Kontrolnu grupu sačinjavalo je 100 radnika koji nisu bili izloženi benzenu. Prosečno izlučivanje fenola eksponirane grupe bilo je statistički značajno više od prosečnog izlučivanja fenola kontrolne grupe ( t = 19,9 uz P < 0,001).
