The article focuses on a discussion held at the Art Historians\u27 Conference on the methodology and teaching of fine arts and visual culture in secondary education. The new teaching programme is seen as a continuation of the traditional historical approach to which certain innovations have been added. This programme should be a living, elastic and dynamic process. Fine arts and visual culture education is permanently emerging through joyful creative activity, inseparable from life itself. It cannot be translated into a science (technology oriented mechanism, or administrative) bureaucratic term
