Bio surveillance de la pollution de l'air à l'aide du lichen Xanthoria parietina

International audienceOur work focused on biodetection of air pollution by hydrocarbons in three stations of the Wilaya of Ouargla in Algerian Sahara namely, Hassi Messaoud (HMD), Haoud Berkaoui (HBK) and the center of Ouargla (OGX). We used lichens from the north of Algeria as biological model after transplantation in order to evaluate the effects of this pollution. The levels of hexane soluble compounds (CSH) exhibit variation (broadly increasing then decreasing) over time for all three stations taking into account that the station HMD presents the highest values compared to other stations. The ratio MF/MS reveals fluctuating but more or less declining values especially for HMD. Generally a decrease in this ratio at the end of the experiment is observed. With regard to chlorophyll content, we record the decrease of chlorophyll for the three stations. The variations in the different contents are probably due to two factors, pollution on the one hand notably for CSH, and dehydration of thalli under the effect of heat on the other hand for MF/MS notably.Notre travail a porté sur la biodétection de la pollution atmosphérique par les hydrocarbures dans 3 stations de la wilaya de Ouargla en zone Saharienne Algérienne, Hassi Messaoud (HMD), Haoud Berkaoui (HBK) et Ouargla centre (OGX). Les lichens prélevés sur leur support dans le nord del’Algérie ont été utilisés comme modèle biologique pour évaluer les effets de cette pollution. Les teneurs en composés solubles dans l’hexane (CSH) dans les transplants lichéniques augmentent puis diminuent au cours du temps, tout en présentant des variations entre les 3 stations. Les lichens de lastation de HMD présentent les valeurs les plus élevées par rapport aux autres stations. Globalement, le rapport MF/MS diminue pendant l’expérimentation, surtout pour HMD. Pour ce qui concerne la teneur en chlorophylle, elle diminue pour les 3 stations. Les modifications observées au cours du temps pourraient avoir pour origine deux facteurs, la pollution d’une part et la déshydratation des thalles sous l’effet de la chaleur d’autre part. Si l’accumulation de composés solubles dans l’hexane est plus probablement à relier à la pollution, la chute du rapport MF/MS est quant à elle plutôt liée à la déshydratation
