The purpose of this study is to detect which variables influence a business when deciding whether or not to invest in the training of its employees. We pay attention to this practice because, as many previous studies suggest, it leads to an increase in worker productivity and because investment in training activities is a manner by which to increase the inimitability of human resources. A Binomial Logit Model is applied to a sample of 94 Spanish businesses from various sectors. The results have allowed us to confirm that businesses following the Porter differentiation strategy invest more in training.
