Commented translation: Des ballets russes à l'avant-garde (Pastori, Jean-Pierre. Éditions Gallimard. Paris 1997, pp. 13-35)

This bachelor thesis comprises two parts. The first part introduces an original translation of the first chapter from a book entitled La danse, Des Ballets russes à l'avant-garde by the Swiss author Jean-Pierre Pastori. The translated text deals with the beginnings of modern dance in the historical context of the first three decades of the 20th century. The second part of the thesis consists of a commentary on the translated text and is further divided into two parts: a translation analysis of source text, pointing out the characteristics of the original, and a typologically composed list of translation problems with their respective solutions and eventual translation shifts. The basic premise of this thesis is to present a translation that is functionally equivalent to the source text and provide the said translation with a translation commentary. A copy of the source text that is subject to the translation is included as attachment to the thesis.Tato bakalářská práce sestává ze dvou částí. První z nich je překlad první kapitoly publikace La danse, Des Ballets russes à l'avant-garde (1997) od švýcarského autora Jeana-Pierra Pastoriho. Přeložený text pojednává o počátcích moderního tance v dějinném kontextu prvních třiceti let 20. století. Část druhá sestává z odborného komentáře, jenž se postupně věnuje překladatelské analýze, seznamující blíže s textem originálu, popisu koncepce překladu a typologickému výčtu překladatelských problémů s jejich řešeními a překladatelskými posuny. Základní premisou této práce je tedy jednak vytvořit český překlad funkčně ekvivalentní francouzskému originálu a jednak vzniklý překlad opatřit odborným komentářem.
