Poznawcze i praktyczne dylematy w geograficznych badaniach funkcjonalnych wsi

The content of the work includes an in-depth reflection on the issue of functional research in geographical studies of rural areas and related disciplines (mainly spatial management). In human geography and spatial management, the functional concept has played an important role in describing and explaining reality, laying the foundations for various research programs. The most important goal of the paper is an attempt to identify the basic cognitive and practical dilemmas in functional studies of rural areas. The considerations contained in the article concern the problems of choices faced by researchers in designing and conducting functional studies and related fields of study. Issues such as relationality and function designations, the problem of time and scale of research, and the dilemma of spatial order and coherence were raised. The development of critical concepts based on neofunctionalism is postulated. This creates an opportunity to develop research that draws attention to the local dimensions of social and economic life. This approach can be very creative for planning local spaces and social involvement in the process of improving living conditions, strengthening cultural identity and creating the places themselves.Praca zawiera pogłębioną refleksją nad kwestią badań funkcjonalnych w geograficznych badaniach wsi oraz dyscyplin pokrewnych, głównie gospodarka przestrzenna. W geografii społeczno-ekonomicznej oraz gospodarce przestrzennej koncepcja funkcjonalna odegrała istotną rolę w opisie i wyjaśnianiu rzeczywistości, stwarzając podstawy dla programów badawczych miast i wsi. Najważniejszym celem artykułu jest próba określenia podstawowych dylematów poznawczych i praktycznych w badaniach funkcjonalnych wsi. Przemyślenia zawarte w artykule dotyczą problemu wyborów, przed którymi stają badacze w projektowaniu i prowadzeniu studiów funkcjonalnych oraz pokrewnych im kierunków. Poruszono takie kwestie, jak relacyjność i desygnaty funkcji, problem czasu i skali badań oraz dylemat porządku przestrzennego i spójności.
