The specialized literature in power system classifies three types of substations: Generation, switching and transformation, which depend on criteria such as reliability, flexibility, and security. There are several operating conditions where these systems can be exposed to failures that are often unpredictable causing severe damage to the equipment connected to the system and the operating output of the power transmission and distribution lines. It is important that power system busbars have the adequate protection scheme for each element, to minimize the effects of failures, a coordinate time, and security. This document present the operating requirements Substation in the Department of Atlántico were evaluated using the software DigSilent Power Factory to simulate the system operation under different scenarios, to present contributions to improve the configurations with a view to increasing the system's reliability.Las subestaciones son un conjunto de dispositivos, equipos y sistemas diseñados para controlar el flujo de energía eléctrica, están dispuestos en configuraciones tales como barra sencilla, doble barra, doble barra con doble interruptor, entre otras. La literatura clasifica tres tipos de subestaciones: subestaciones de generación, maniobra y transformación, a las cuales se le asocian los requerimientos de confiabilidad, flexibilidad y seguridad para garantizar su desempeño. Existen varias condiciones de operación donde estos sistemas pueden estar expuestos a fallas que a menudo son impredecibles y cuyas causas ocasionan daños severos a los equipos conectados al sistema y la salida de operación de las líneas. Es importante que las subestaciones eléctricas cuenten con el esquema de protección adecuado para cada elemento para minimizar los efectos de fallas, tiempos de interrupción y mejorar la continuidad del servicio. En este documento se evaluaron los requerimientos operativos de Subestación Las Flores en el Departamento del Atlántico, utilizando el software DigSilent Power Factory para simular el comportamiento del sistema en diferentes escenarios, con el fin de presentar aportes para mejorar las configuraciones con miras a incrementar la confiabilidad del sistema
