Spontaneous carotid artery dissection is an important cause of ischemic stroke in young patients. There are some genetic or environmental factors associated with risks for spontaneous arterial dissection. Although thyroid hormone may affect the vascular system, the predisposition for arterial dissection remains unknown in thyrotoxicosis.
