Effectiveness of Aloe Vera Gel Application on Episiotomy Wound Healing among Postnatal Mothers with Diabetes Mellitus at Government Rajaji Hospital, Madurai

TITLE: Effectiveness of Aloevera Gel Application on Episiotomy Wound Healing among Postnatal Mothers with Diabetes Mellitus at Government Rajaji Hospital, Madurai. OBJECTIVES: 1. To assess the level of episiotomy wound healing among postnatal mothers with diabetes mellitus. 2. To evaluate the effectiveness of aloevera gel application on episiotomy wound healing among postnatal mothers with diabetes mellitus. 3. To associate the level of episiotomy wound healing among postnatal mothers with diabetes mellitus with their selected socio demographic and obstetrical variables. HYPOTHESES: There is a statistically significant difference between the pretest and posttest level of episiotomy wound healing. There is a statistically significant difference between the posttest levels of episiotomy wound healing. There is a statistically significant association between the level of episiotomy wound healing among postnatal mother with diabetes mellitus admitted in postnatal ward, GRH, Madurai with their selected socio demographic and obstetrical variables. METHODOLOGY: True experimental design was used. 60 subjects were selected by simple random sampling technique and intervention was given twice a day for 3 days. RESULTS: The findings revealed that, changes in episiotomy wound healing confirmed by student independent ‘t’ test (t=5.97 at p=0.001) level. CONCLUSION: Aloevera gel application was effective on episiotomy wound healing among postnatal mothers with diabetes mellitus
