Editorial: Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19): diet, inflammation and nutritional status

peer-reviewedSince late 2019, the world has come to terms with the fact that it is facing a major public health crisis against the novel coronavirus disease termed COVID-19 caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). As of August 12th 2021, there are over 205 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 4,300,000 deaths globally while more than 180 million patients have recovered. The first known case of COVID-19 originated from the city of Wuhan in Hubei Province, China. From there, it has spread to every inhabited continent worldwide
