Method in Ibn Khaldun’S Thought and Its Value in Terms of Islamic Philosophy

Almost every Islamic science has its unique method. In this respect, even if every branch of science contains various reading styles, they have survived to the present day by preserving their own unity. This is so for sciences as well as for civilizations. In this study, we will try to understand the way of thinking of an Islamic philosopher by following the traces of Ibn Khaldun’s method in the thought of ilm-i umran. We will look for the answer to the question of how a new method specific to Islamic Philosophy, which is taught in various faculties today, can be put forward. That is why we have Ibn Khaldun’s thought as an important opportunity. Analyzing historical information, putting observational data to the test, and analytical examination of current findings together with the available legacy are important in this respect. The method used in the formation of the way of thinking which is called ilm-i umran by Ibn Khaldun is also valid today. In this respect, it is essential to build a new method by taking advantage of the past in the name of Islamic philosophy.Bir ilmin kendi iç bütünlüğü ve tutarlılığı, o ilme özgü yöntem (usûl) ile mümkündür. Bir ilme ait kavramlar, belli bir yöntem ile fonksiyonel hale gelir. İslamî ilimlerin hemen her birinin kendine özgü yöntemi vardır. Bu açıdan her bir ilim dalı, muhtelif okuma biçimlerini bünyelerinde barındırsalar bile, kendi iç bütünlüklerini koruyarak günümüze kadar gelmişlerdir. Bu durum ilimler için böyle olduğu kadar medeniyetler için de böyledir. Bu çalışmamızda İbn Haldun’un ilm-i umran düşüncesinde nasıl bir yöntem takip ettiğinin izlerini sürerek bir İslam filozofunun düşünme biçimini anlamaya çalışacağız. Günümüzde muhtelif fakültelerde ders olarak okutulan İslam Felsefesi’ne özgü yeni bir yöntem nasıl ortaya konulabilir sorusunun cevabını arayacağız. Onun için İbn Haldun’un ortaya koyduğu düşünce, önemli bir imkân olarak elimizde bulunmaktadır. Tarihsel bilgilerin analiz edilmesi, gözleme dayalı verilerin teste tabi tutulması, güncel bulguların eldeki birikim ile birlikte analitik olarak incelenmesi bu açıdan önem arzeder. İbn Haldun’un ilm-i umran adını verdiği düşünce biçiminin oluşmasında dile getirilen yöntem günümüz için de geçerlidir. Bu açıdan İslam felsefesi adına geçmişten istifade ederek yeni bir yöntem inşa etmek elzemdir
