Fungi are known to produce secondary metabolites as a chemical defense in their natural environment which may be useful inhibitors against many pathogens. Screening analysis of these compounds could demonstrate effectivity against certain pathogens. One such group of multidrug resistant nosocomial pathogens is ESKAPE (Enterococcus faecium, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Acinetobacter spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Enterobacter spp.). Due to ESKAPE’s heavy resistance to common antibiotics, the natural compounds of fungi could present an alternate path to new medicines. This review will highlight the bioassay-guided fractionation of fungal extracts that are screened against ESKAPE. With the use of various instruments, such ...
