The purpose of this study is to develop a scale examining the occurrence and discomfort caused by incidents of racial microaggressions. Racial microaggressions are brief, subtle, slights directed towards people of color, intentionally or unintentionally, that occur, verbally, behaviorally, and environmentally, on a frequent basis. The scale items were developed using themes identified in the qualitative literature. This scale will allow me to examine the impact of racial microaggressions on people of color on campus.
