Purpose – The increasing number of M&As ever since the late 80s, the high interest in merging organizations, and related identity formation challenges have gained researchers' broad interest. Understanding the phenomenon and associated underlying challenges can significantly increase the success of the merger since even one-third of the merger failures are argued to be caused by people-centric issues.
