The sacred experience in Leo Lipski's prose

According to the author of the text, the reader will not find many descriptions of religious behavior or wider religious life of Jews in the prose of Leo Lipski. This situation results from two reasons related to the writer: firstly, a strong military trauma, and secondly, the inability of the sacred sphere to appear in the world crushed by the experience of the Holocaust. By analyzing this phenomenon, the researcher analyses the following of Lipski's works: Niespokojni (The Restless), Piotruś (Little Peter), and Dzień i noc (Day and Night), showing that they are characterized by a reversed syndrome of the sacred, the object of which is no longer religious ecstasy, but fascination with the city, the woman, or one's own body.KATARZYNA ZWOLSKA-PŁUSA, mgr, doktorantka Akademii Jana Długosza w Częstochowie, zajmuje się prozą Leo Lipskiego oraz prozą polsko- żydowską, pracuje w Centrum Dialogu Międzykulturowego w Częstochowie; od 2010 roku pracuje w jako nauczycielka języka polskiego, etyki i filozofii w Zespole Szkół Artystycznych i Akademickich ALA w Częstochowie.
