The article presents the individual characters of male and female supporters of Zionism commemorated in the Lomza Memorial Book as a showcase of a wider European phenomenon. Firstly, it briefly explains the notion of a memorial book in general as well as describes the circumstances of the creation of the Lomza Memorial Book in particular. It offers a brief outline of the history of Jewish community in Lomza including the spread of Zionist ideas. The article demonstrates how the supporters of Zionism contributed to changes in their community through their involvement in charity work, education, culture or many other initiatives.
